Friday January 21, 2011 8:00-12:00 (4 hours)
After getting my wiki set up, I explored and learned what all I can use our wiki site for! I like the ideas the page gave for using this forum for FAQ with students, a travel log, and a where's wiki Wanda? Also, I love the idea of being able to share ideas between teachers!
I learned how to set up a new wiki page, add student names, edit my page, lock certain arts of my page, and invite other people to be part of my page!
As we continued our morning, all the staff members were able to create their own fusion webpage on the school/district website. Since I am not official district staff I was not able to create my own, although it sounds like I will be able to in a couple days! Within the website, I will be able to list the classes that I am teaching, post weekly learning targets, post current classroom activities, and keep track of students individual information.

Today I activated my teacher fusion page on the school web page. In developing my page, I wrote out a synopsis of my student teaching and personal background. I learned how to add a background and added two different types to each of my fusion pages. We looked at how to add sounds or music to the page. I chose not to because I find music on pages to be distracting. I did add a couple of dates to the calendar and explored how I would add students and homework to each fusion page. Marcia explained that when I make changes and the website goes live, emails will be sent out to parents alerting them of new assignments or important changes. I thought this was a really useful to know that as teachers, we do not have to rely on families or students to log on and go to a school page to check for updates. That process I'm sure can be stressful and too much for some famlies! Email reminders are much less to keep up with.
Although we mostly focused on the fusion pages today, I did go back into this Wiki page and review what we learned last week!
Feb. 10 4:10-5:40 (1.5 hours)
This PDP time was spent working on the school fusion website and updating our wikispaces. I learned on school fusion how to move the applications around. Also, I read through and updated my introdution on the site. I updated my wikispaces today as well.
February 25th, 2011 8:00-12:00 (4 hours) For today’s PDP time we further explored the exchange.smartech.com website. It was a time to delve into the specifics of what the site offered for each grade level. I found several games that were already prepared for you such as Jeopardy and Connect4. These games can also be tailored to any grade level and subject a person would like. Candice and I began exploring the document camera also. We downloaded the driver on my computer so that we could connect the camera. The camera had power, however; it would not show a connection with my computer. The next PDP we will need help figuring out what the issue is. With my change of grade levels happening in one week, I did not change much on my teacher fusion page today. I did spent time looking at other teacher’s pages to see how they developed their sites. In the next grade level experience I would like to utilize the school website for parent communication!
March 2, 2011 4:00-5:30 (1.5 hours) PDP time today was spent looking at Math Britanica, IXL math online, and the document camera. The IXL math seemed like it would be great to use at home. Unfortunately at school, one can only log on for free once a day, otherwise there has to be a subscription. The same goes for Math Britanica.
